A sober second look at the JSB in relation to the South Island transportation issues of the Collwood Crawl, the downtown traffic congestion and how to reduce the stress of shopping downtown. Repeating a structure as old as the JSB seems insane to me given the changes needed and the current and future life style of users. Professional Engineers were hired and tried to convince the City Mayor of alternatives to address these needs and their $9.5 Million advice was ignored according to sources. The pressure from Ottawa to complete such a structure before a Federal Election seems to me to be too much political interference into island problems. The absence of the BC Gov't into Island issues of intermodal moving of people and goods in the light of past agreements with the crown are also disturbing.
What happened to the "in perpetuity service" promised by Railways in exchange for Crown gifts of real estate and mineral rights all the way to Nanaimo on the E&N from "seaboard to seaboard" on agreements with the Crown which the BC Legislature is now part of enforcing.

good post. thanks
